These light brown insects really look like brine shrimp -- check out those beady little eyes. Of course they aren't. One of the dark ones is peeking out from behind a petal at about 7 o'clock, and there's a entire attack squadron of the dark ones around the carpals or the stamen (I have to learn more botany).

The level of detail my DSLR can produce always amazes me. I could have done a little better on the insects if I'd been trying to image them, but I wasn't. They were just there. I didn't notice them through the viewfinder (because I was only composing the gardenia and its background) and yet I could pull them out with no trouble.
