Just this morning I read something on line about the surprising utility of longer focal lengths in landscape work. Surprise! I've always wondered why so many photographers think that wide angle is somehow required for landscapes. Sometimes it's the right lens and sometimes it isn't. Today's HDI was made at 70 mm, and some of the other candidates were at 160 and even 200 mm. Isn't the entire point to locate the area of maximum beauty or interest and grab that area? I think it is.
