When I'm making a shot like this, I usually choose an aperture that throws the background dramatically out of focus. But this morning, hiding inside the house and shooting out onto the back lanai, I saw that the ripe and unripe Surinam cherries in the tree behind the Agapanthus made a nice pattern. So that's what I shot.
