This morning I was reminded of why I like to shoot before the sun's fully up. With no direct sunlight, colors can be vibrant but they aren't harsh and contrasty. This anthurium leaf's colors were able to be themselves, and the browns and grays in the other leaves (particularly the one at the bottom center) stayed subtle. Much of this would have been lost had this shot been in direct sunlight.

 

The downside of shooting so early is that I have to use slow shutter speeds, and that rules out anything that might move (this was shot at 1/13 second).
