I haven't been presented with very many head-on views of opening 'ohi'a blossoms. I was struck by this one because of the inner circle of unopened buds (if that's what they're called), and then the concentric circles of opening and then fully opened ones.
This weekend, by the way, we'll be in the grip of tropical storm Darby, which will give heavy rains and wind. Who knows what kind of HDI I'll find. I haven't done a whipping-in-the-wind one for a long time. We'll see.
