Got out between periods of heavy rain.
This is a new shoot of "buddha bamboo." We have a clump of it in the Zen garden. I hadn't ever noticed those little hairs -- that is, I'd noticed the patterns from a distance, but hadn't looked carefully to see what was making them. Ruth says she's heard that it's best not to get in contact with those hairs.
I'll be cutting off this shoot soon. The reason is that buddha bamboo is a large bamboo. We're going to keep the number of canes down to three or four. Left alone, there would be a couple of dozen in the clump.
