I know I've used various vertical dead betel palm fronds before.
This morning I was shooting the pair of clove trees, which were nicely-lit and offered some parallel edges. Then the sun rose a little more and brightened, and lit up the frond and the bamboo. I particularly liked the sweep and fall of the bamboo.
I make adjustments on every HDI, of course. Today was interesting because the default "developing" didn't match what I had been seeing with my eyes. To get what I saw, I had to do some things I don't normally do, or usually do in the opposite direction, such as increasing Highlights, decreasing Clarity and a few other things.
