There were some interestingly-colored leaves on the orange 'ohi'a, but the wind was too strong.

Down in the Zen garden, the pikake are putting out blossoms now, so I worked there. The walls keep the wind down. I was shooting down on a nice white blossom (if you don't know, the typical pikake blossom is a bright white) but I noticed that the sun had risen enough to bathe it in warm light, so I shifted position to get behind it, and let the sun control the color.

This is a severe crop. A pikake blossom is at most 1/2" across and filling the frame with one would make focus and depth of field impossible to control outside of a studio. So I backed off from the blossom, knowing that I'd be able to crop. Thank you, D810 sensor.
