I was headed out to [ fill in the blank ] but when I saw [ fill in the blank ] I shot that instead. I'm afraid to go back and try counting how many times I've used that form in an HDI description.
This morning I was headed out to something I saw yesterday -- a Tahitian gardenia blossom all alone in its bush, and I was thinking that a compressed telephoto shot with the white gardenia and the dark bush might work nicely. But when I set down the tripod at the bottom of the steps, I saw this shot into the Zen garden. I saw that I could have both focus and detail fade away at the back, because of the light and the lens. Usually I try to bring back detail where strong light has blown it out, but today I embraced that.
So that's the one I made, and here it is.
