Last HDI of the year.

 

The "out with the old, in with the new" saying was in my thoughts this morning, so I decided to use the old cast-iron bathtub for the HDI. It came out of the house a couple of days ago, part of the major renovation that's happening here on Wailuku Drive.

 

This is a late-thirties Kohler tub sitting on lava rocks that are hundreds if not thousands of years old. More to the point, it's the tub I remember from my childhood. I remember the chrome spout because at least once I gashed my head on it, playing in the tub. It's also amusing that this view of the tub -- from the back -- is one that no one has seen for about 75 years.

 

Black and white seemed the only choice for this shot.
