Back in October 2014 I made the HDI with something that wasn't from the yard.

 

Today I'm doing the same. We have college friends visiting from the mainland, and Carla spotted one of these at Akaka Falls. I picked up one too. I don't know what it is -- maybe it's part of an conifer's cone. I'll try to find out, but in the meantime here it is, perched on a sill, lit up by morning sun.
