The usual story. I was out early, checking out a few things I saw from the porch. Nothing was very interesting.
Then I turned back . . . you've heard that too many times already, I'm afraid.
I saw the moon, but at first wasn't interested. Single moon shots are boring. Then I realized that I could get the moon behind the orange 'ohi'a, and frame it. Yeah, OK. Not that great, really. Moon framed in tree. There must be a million moon-framed-in-tree shots out there.
But then I realized that by manipulating the aperture, I could throw the 'ohi'a leaves out of focus in such a way as to create a series of circles that were the same size as the moon. The name for the out-of-focus parts of an image, and the general description of how that looks, is "bokeh."
So this morning you get many moons, courtesy of bokeh.
