Rain and no sun, concrete sky.

The Areca by the gravel driveway has appeared several times. This morning (the irises from yesterday were doing nothing) the Areca caught my eye with this falling-away section, the raindrops, and the pua kenikeni in the background.

It looks to me as though what happens with the Areca is that a frond will drop, which exposes a section that's not yet grown into trunk mode and these "covers," which is a strange name (I don't know the real one) then drop off later. This is why there's a tall all-green section between the brown trunk and the lower ends of the fronds. I know this isn't a very good explanation.

This is the end of the 16th HDI month. There are 486 HDI images up now. Reaching five hundred will be nothing. I'll think about what to do when I reach 600.
