Rainy morning, but I got outside during a break.

I found a really nice Tahitian gardenia just going translucent, but on the way back in I noticed this anthurium. I thought the color combination was unusual. And as is almost always the case, the anthurium bed offers a dark background, one that's easily taken down to black.

Here's something about shooting white anthuriums: the image always looks "noisy," because any color is made of tiny specks of pigment that the camera resolves as what they are -- tiny dots. And it looks like grain or noise, but it's not. It also makes the images look as though they're not in focus, even when they are. When I'm working with a white anthurium image, I try to find actual rips or tears, to check focus on their edges. Sometime when I'm shooting, that's what I focus on.

I was looking at the last week or so of HDI and noticed that, without meaning to, I've entered a "black background" phase. Maybe I'll keep it up for a few days.

Well, enough. We're in a rainy period (but I did get the lawn mowed yesterday).
