Hilo Daily Image
10 November 2015
I've been watching the shower tree, which is growing rapidly. The leaves at the tips are always much lighter than the rest, and they take an a nice inverted-U shape. When there's wind, they whip around.
So today -- rainy, dull -- I thought I'd do a "whipped by the wind" image, which I haven't for a while. This is a 2 second exposure, in case anyone's interested. There's less space than you might think between what seems to be a "shaky camera" shot and one that's completely unrecognizable. And of course wind strength plays a role too.
Bottom line is that making an image like this can take many tries, even though the camera position and focus point don't change at all. Today it took me 10 exposures to get two I liked, which isn't bad.
