Hilo Daily Image
19 October 2015
There's a cluster of little orchids at the base of the hapu'u that's near the stairs, and for whatever reason, they have not bloomed during the entire time I've been making the HDI. But a couple of days ago, they did. So this morning I set out to work with them. And I made some images that were certainly HDI-worthy.
But -- you saw this coming -- when I turned away to go back inside, I saw this hibiscus base, fallen on the cinders and with its top half eaten away -- exposed as if in a textbook cutaway. I liked it better than the orchids.
Something left a slime trail. Maybe what ate away at the hibiscus was a slug.
I'll get the orchids another day. Maybe tomorrow.
