Dull light, rain. Maybe for another day.

 

I gave you the old kukui back in February. This is the new one in the Zen garden. It's going on 18 months old now. It's gotten its basic shape going, but I need to work on the higher branches, to try keeping it from taking on the kukui shape that unpruned ones have -- draping branches all over the place. If we can't sit under this one, it won't be doing the job we need it to do. I've seen kukui trained to have thick trunks until they're quite high. That's what I'm hoping I can manage with this one.
