I've spent 2 hard days thinning five bamboo clumps along the mauka border. You can see one of them, out of focus, at the left. I headed out with the 300, thinking I could get something nice out of them, all stacked up, but the first shots were only so-so and I didn't feel like going around to the other side of the house and shooting in a different direction. I was just back from running, and was tired. Tomorrow I'll give that a shot.

An anthurium was in the way . . . so I made it the focus. This plant has got to be 20 or 30 years old (the plant, not the bloom); my mother would have planted it. The anthurium bed I often photograph is in the front, and is new. These are plants that haven't had any attention at all for years, but now that I'm making progress cleaning up the back, they should be happier than they've been.
