Hilo Daily Image

I don't think I've used the honeysuckle planted along one side of the driveway for the HDI yet. It's been a feature of my visual life for at least 60 years -- my mother planted it when I was a boy.
I shot some other stuff at the side of the house and was headed inside, unsatisfied (the earlier images were no better than OK) but when I walked along the honeysuckle I noticed this particularly bright blossom. And it was hanging out over the asphalt driveway. Yes, that's a key part of this image -- when the background is already dark, it doesn't take too much processing to send it to deep black.
As (almost) always, there are insects chomping away. Or hanging out -- who knows?
