Detail from a Buka Island canoe paddle (of some antiquity). Buka is the island just north of Bougainville -- they are separated by a narrow strait. Buka canoe paddles are decorated with stylized human figures, of which this is one.
And the human figures have heads.
Head Shot Week is trickier than I thought. Maybe I can find a lizard tomorrow, or a bird will stay within range. I do have many more heads I could shoot, but overwhelmingly they are Pacific artifacts. I'll keep trying.
