One of Tom's Hawaiian (native) bees, caught and sucked dry by this invasive spider. A native spiderweb would have caught the bee too, and a native spider would have sucked it dry too, but I'm unhappy that it was an invasive's web.
There's no political, economic, or even moral will to control invasives in Hawai'i. Every organization that tries to tackle the problem is underfunded and understaffed. The greatest threat is the Brown Tree Snake. If they become established, it's game over.
