Downstairs in the shop there's a drawer filled with files, and among them there are several of the style known as "rat-tail."
This is a rat tail that belonged to a rat who made the mistake of trying to set up shop in our kitchen. Not allowed.
Not many people know that until the mid-fifties of the last century, there was a pocket of bubonic plague out the Hamakua Coast from Hilo. The Hilo rats never carried it -- or I should say that the fleas on them never did.
