I went out thinking that the honeysuckle would be interesting, and it was. But the Bougainvillea seemed more interesting, so here it is --  backlit by the rising sun, and more contrasty than I generally like, but giving the feel of the scene.

 

Bougainvillea "flowers" are really bracts, that is, leaves. You can see the leaf structures if you look closely.

 

The Bougainvillea may be headed for a new home in Puna, where somebody we know is very fond of them. Either he wears long sleeved shirts more than I do, or has thicker skin. He's welcome to them and their rending thorns.

 

I'll catch the honeysuckle later. It's blooming, and sinking down into it with the superwide was visually pleasing and the fragrance even more pleasing.
