Shooting into the sun can be tricky, with high risk of washed-out images if I'm not careful with exposure. I've gotten a lot from this little hapu, because it always grows out at least one frond that's oriented vertically. Here's one from January 2014 (in the "500 Daily Images" series). This is a different frond, of course.

The autofocus on my 70-200 lens has failed, and I'm going to have to send it back to the manufacturer. I've never had a lens fail before, but there's nothing to be done. Until it's fixed, I won't be able to reach out very far. The body needs an upgrade too, so I might ship off the whole thing. I have another DSLR and a high-quality small camera, so I'll hardly be crippled. I might not say anything about when I make the switch, to see whether any viewers will notice.
