Rainy morning. This is the little koa tree we planted a few months ago. It's doing well. Notice the two different kinds of leaves. It starts out with the small compound leaves, but as it grows the sickle-shaped ones predominate. The small leaves collect dew and keep the base of the small tree moist. When it's older, this isn't important, and a mature tree has only the sickle leaves. I've been keeping watch for the first big boy (or big girl) leaves, and here they are.
