Base of a Dypsis lutescans frond. You know, the clumping palm everybody calls Areca. Dypsis fronds come loose and fall every which way inside the clump. The result, if they're not cleaned up for a while, is a jumble of fronds that can only be pulled out one by one, by a person hoping that the Little Fire Ants haven't taken up residence on one of them.
